...I have no idea what to make of it...it's someone who wants to work on the rebuilding of Castle Dracula, and wrote to me because of a news article I did on the castle burning down last year...he wanted me to help him get in touch with the owners.

If we get this contract with the Nickel family... Would you be interested in being our "Chatter bug" helping to create the Buzz about what is going on with the project?

I will have first hand access to all of the prototype work...Models, miniature, actual props that are going in to the attraction...floor plans and so-on...

We compromised. I wrote back basically saying, "I'm interested; tell me more."
But I have no idea if it's legit; if it means money; if it's just a request to write about the work being done; whatthefrig.

...Personally, I was extremely happy to find someone interested in telling about our Halloween shows.
By all means, PLEASE mention it!!
The June show isn't strictly Halloween per se, but a lot of us love it so and tend to concentrate in that area.
The October show is STRICTLY Halloween....we play spooky music, decorate with our favorite spiders and bats...and skeltons...(my favorite!).....and to make it seem ever so Napa Valley...(Which is a real draw as that is Harvest and it attracts people to stay and tour upvalley)..we have wine tastings...Sue owns the winery!
As a group we have fun...seeing each other's work, playing with the ideas we wanted to do and feeling free to go wild; making limited pieces...

For the October show..I am the one to contact! Easy!
What it really is all about is presenting new Folk Art Halloween that isn't reproductions of the antique German varieties, but rather a fresh take on the day. We want to keep Halloween alive and bring it with us into the 21st century, adding our stories and our visions. It is unusual, and new, and is an exciting take on the Samhain.
Pamela Apkarian-Russell has featured some of our works in her books...the newest is called the Tastes and Smells of Halloween, written like the old bogie books.
She is acquainted with this new form of Halloween collectibles and would be a good source to talk to as well!
Also, a friend is having his Halloween collection featured on HGTV this Autumn, and he also did a segment on contemporary Halloween Folk Art; focusing on my work, and the works of Christine Giambone and Matt Kirscht, and Thomas Sparks.
