I have a huge prejudice against slasher films.
In school, when I finally decided to do reports and speeches on things other than the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, and Joan of Arc (..yeah, I know..), I remember speaking passionately about the history of horror films and how the slasher era had pretty much destroyed the delicacy and skillful storytelling in the genre.
Prejudiced much?
Oh yes. Absolutely, yes.
My brother and I grew up watching horror flicks. "Creature Double Feature," baby. We could quote the formula needed for reviving The Mummy; we had a battle plan for when the vampires attacked (because they were going to - oh yes indeedy - and obviously they'd come for us because we were ON to them, man!); we didn't really get the whole Godzilla thing, but wow, Universal Monsters and Hammer Horror, and the giant bug movies..that was damn good stuff.
And then came The Incredible Two-Headed Transplant, and - well - that was ok, but..kinda weird. And then? Then horror started to lose me.
( which ticks me RIGHT THE HELL OFF, apparently )
