another frustrating meeting

Part I happened on Tuesday. One issue that arose concerned people getting work put on their desks after they leave - the request was that all work be given over by 2:30. (It's not unreasonable; we often have tight deadlines, and some people have to call California, so if they have the work at 2:30, they know to stay later and make their call.)

Part II of the meeting: management said they weren't going to set a certain time on this because "end of business" should cover it. Not a single complaint was voiced!
I was surprised - it's not my issue, but I think it's a valid one - so I looked at one of the ladies that was loudest on Tuesday. Not a peep.
Bossman asks me if I have a problem - very nicely asks, I should add. And I said, "Well, no; I'm here until 4 anyway, but I know some people wanted work earlier than that." Discussion started about why 4 or 5 o'clock was ok...STILL not a peep of complaint!
Bossman asks me again if it's ok with me.
I sorta throw my hands up in the air. "It really wasn't even my problem...I'm completely fine with it!"

Sigh.
People are silly.

how to end a meeting badly

Just start giggling.

*sigh*

We had another meeting that became a free-for-all and then became a circular discussion. Someone (not Bossman) started reading a memo out loud to us, and I commented, "We can take that back to our desks and read it, can't we?"
Bertha (my supervisor) looked over at me, surprised, then hid a smile.
And the conversations around me continued.
And..
I couldn't stop myself.
I started giggling.
The room got quiet. Bossman asked, "What's going *on* over there?"
"*giggle* I'm really sorry. Maybe it's too hot in here. But I really need to go now, please...!"

(I did go back and apologize to Bossman later, and I promised to be better-behaved in the future. He just smiled and said, "No! Don't change!" Umm...I will *not* take him seriously, thankyouverymuch.)

And I get to co-conduct a training with these maniacs tomorrow.
Valium would help.
