This, from a local freebie weekly, was something I found very interesting - it focuses on the difference between how these two cities have dealt with the repair from 9/11...

When I stopped in DC on my journey back to NYC from the wedding, we drove by the Pentagon, by accident as well, and it was startling.

What I remember most from the years I lived in DC was that the sky was always full of cranes -- the city was constantly being built and rebuilt, being prepared for tennants that never came -- the amount of empty office space in DC is a seriously weird and constant thing.

So the Pentagon rebuilding seems to fit with that -- but it seemed so strange to me, in a rain similar to one described in that article. DC always seems to be at the mercy of giant and brainless machines. It's very odd.

Also odd is the tower of light thing was uspposed to end on the 11th and any night was supposed to be off by 11pm -- but when I was out Satuday with Kat it stayed on all night, and was well past the time it should have been finished.
