urge to slap rising
Apr. 11th, 2002 03:13 pm..And yes, I am probably "just" hormonal, but..
Start of discussion - LJer asks how to care for neglected ferrets.

This is a good discussion.
Same LJ'er posts another message - clearly, some of what I told her the first time around helped. Now she's asking how to go about trimming claws, among other things..
This is something I know about, so I try to break it down to the simplest how-to without anyone getting hurt:

I am, of course, annoyed at the person who says that zie has a "better" way of trimming claws.
Yes, zir way would work. But it puts everyone more at risk because it offers much less control over the situation. And I simply do *not* understand why (a) play the one-upmanship game, or (b) why feel the need to repeat what's already been posted.
Pah.
PAH, I say!
*grumble*
And I'm annoyed at the idiots who own these ferrets.
The story reminds me of one my hubby agreed to adopt. Basically someone called the museum, saying, "I have a young, deaf ferret that needs a home because I can't care for him anymore."
So hubby said yes, sight unseen.
WELL. "Young" ferret was old; was deaf; had a huge tumor on the end of his tail; had swollen gums because he had bad teeth (I'm frankly amazed he could even eat!); and was showing signs of lymphoma (which is a kind of cancer - really obvious symptom is that the ferret acts like it's trying to gag - something its body isn't designed to do).
We had him put down pretty much immediately.
But it was heartbreaking.
So I'm sure I'm also reacting to this..*sigh*
