if the busses here went on strike i'd be ticked! I'd have to walk from my parking spot to my building instead of riding a bus (and my work does pay the busses for transporting us-- and I think work would be ticked!) and yea I work for the govt (we can't even plan to have spots to park near our buildings, and they torn down old parking places to build buildings. can we say where will those people park?)
I know bus fare around here keeps going up (I know people who ride the bus alot--college!) and it's a pain!
It seems like the bus lines here go on strike more and more often over the past few years..the increased fares haven't increased the quality of service at *all*.
My "favorite" public transit experience:
If I catch the 7:09AM train, I can catch the 7:30 bus and be at work by 8. If I miss said train, or if the 7:30 bus leaves early, I have to catch the 8AM bus. Which means I'm at work at 8:30 - not *too* bad. BUT..the 7:35 train is usually late, so I miss the 8AM bus; if I then have to catch the 8:30 bus, I'm at work at 9:15, and now I'm late.
Well...hubby has a car he says I could basically have (no, I don't totally believe him, but...!) - it would save us some money because he pays around $13/day for parking, where I pay around $8/day in bus fares. If I were driving, I get free parking and he pays much cheaper transit rates. So it would be good. At least in theory.

Fare woes
If you pass through one of Septa's mysterious zones, it's $0.50
If you want a transfer, it's $0.60
Translation: it costs MUCH too much these days to ride the bus!
