mini-rant warning

Yesterday afternoon, a coworker asked me how to set up a shortcut to a public mailbox on her computer.
I'd written out very careful, but brief, directions on how to do this, but during our training, our tech person had edited them down - and now they weren't user-friendly.

So with New Boss's permission, I sent out a group email with better instructions on how to do it.

Sparky wrote back, "Thanks, but I did it already."

WTF?

I mean, that's great that she did it - but it's not like I wrote to her specifically - everyone can see that everyone else's name is on the email. It's not really necessary to tell me you've already done it - I could really care less.
At the risk of being hypersensitive, I suspect this is yet another "look how efficient I am!" kind of thing - which she does a lot.
I wrote back, "Cool - just trying to keep everyone on the same page."
I probably shouldn't have responded at all.
I definitely need coffee.

that was a fairly diplomatic response....good for you....pain in the ass people that just do not actually read an email...that pisses me off...as if it was directed at them specifically...doh...

Actually, you did the right thing dropping that little note.
As much as it will caus eher to seek more patting on the head, such is the woe anyone who manages anyone or anything must face.
