Movie night!
Dec. 11th, 2001 10:36 pmInstead of watching "Buffy" tonight (siiigh..they were rerunning "Hush," which I've *never* seen, but I got outvoted), we watched "Pitch Black". (I can't really complain - it's a great movie, and it was my father-in-law's choice..as recovering patient, he's on the "to be spoiled" list.)
Anyway..it's a GORGEOUS movie. It really is. The use of light and editing is just breath-taking. This is my first time watching it on the small screen..I think it's better in a real theatre..but it's still so worth watching. And my husband had to shush me when the eclipse scene started - it's just too too beautiful.
I've always found images of planets and stars to be enthralling. As movie effects get better and scifi flick space shots actually look *real* now, I'm a very happy gal. I don't know what it is about images of galaxies - planets with rings - stars - but they move me muchly.
There's a print I wished I had bought a few years ago...a photographer had a stand up at a craft show, and he had a print for sale of a shadow of a plane across the moon. It amazed me. Such a strange lucky moment caught on film. I had written down his web site, but..of course..lost it. *grumble*
Anyway..time to sleep! (I hope! I'm so friggin tired...)

Date: 2001-12-12 06:50 am (UTC)I love space type stuff myself, always thought it was so beautiful
I wish I could see the picture you are taking about it sounds awesome (and I bet you really wish that the web addy didn't get lost)! Or better yet I wish I was a good photographer then I could take shots like that.... I can't even load a 35 mm camera ~blushes~ I really can't I have tried SO hard and always fail. The film don't like me one bit. So I doubt I would make a good photographer if I can't load the camera!
hope you are sleeping well right now!
Slept ok...thanks!
Date: 2001-12-12 07:42 am (UTC)Me: (mumbling into pillow) I hate him. I want to kill him.
(pause)
(bark bark bark BARK BARK bark bark bark)
Me: (thinking) How can Jason sleep through this??
Husband: (mumbling into pillow) I hate him too.
I've been VERY lucky at getting some pictures I'm proud of - a few were used in publications the museum I work for puts out (newsletter kind of things), which I'm waay too proud of. ;)
I'll have to see if I can find ones I really like and post them...!
(Though - if it makes you feel any better - sometimes I STILL manage to totally misload film in my Olympus...really ticks me off..!)
<- in digital camera lust
digital camera ~drool~!
Date: 2001-12-12 09:13 am (UTC)Wow that's awesome about the pictures!!
It does make me feel a bit better but at least you are capable to load it! I still have never correctly loaded a 35 mm camera
Yeah I want a digital camera, but the prices will ahve to drop first! My mom is getting me an advantex (i think that's what they are called) for X-mas because I told her i need one because I cna't load the 35mm. She just laughed at me and said ok
quiet last night!
Date: 2001-12-13 09:09 am (UTC)Advantex is supposed to be a nice camera - I've never heard a complaint from the people I know who've had 'em.
We *almost* got a digital camera this year. We were shopping - I had one picked out - I knew what accessories to get - I was buying the silly magazines, reading the online reviews...
..But then hubby and I went into a sword shop, and...well...ya know...pointy things are COOL, so..*blush*
Re: quiet last night!
Date: 2001-12-13 11:39 am (UTC)not really my thing (because I would be tempted to USE to on someone who made me mad, probably in traffic) but really cool!
Brought one to work once..
Date: 2001-12-13 01:16 pm (UTC)My boss walked by...and then came back.
"Ok, what's in the bag?"
I opened it (a fencing bag) and pulled out my saber. "It's a raise request."
:)
(..no, it didn't work, but..still fun)
