Wolfgang The Missing Lizard - Resolution!
Mar. 30th, 2002 06:45 pmTo recap:
When I got back from Chicago, it was to find a few pet disasters awaited me.
A dog my husband had agreed to petsit got into one of my chinchilla cages - so I was freshly minus a chinchilla. :/
Also, my husband's 3' savannah monitor lizard had escaped, and was just nowhere to be found.
(Which is a nice trick, granted...Wolfgang's a big boy!)
So.
I mourned my chinchilla's death, and we searched repeatedly for the
lizard - to no avail.
With all the cold weather we've had in Philly, we were assuming he was dead, too...and I was dreading the idea of finding him by smell...if you know what I mean. (ew!)
Jump forward to today.
I'm in the room Wolfgang's cage was (and still is) in.
I have Mark Harvey's "Pumpkinland" playing...a CD designed to be atmospheric haunted house music.
I'm busy workin' on stuff.
Suddenly..I hear *scritch scritch*.
'Hmmm!' I think to myself. 'That doesn't sound like a cat..'
I investigate.
Can't find anything.
"Pumpkinland" is still playing...
....and I'm alone in the house...
........*scritch scritch draaaaaaaaag scritch*
I'm looking in closets. I'm pulling up the carpets to see if there's any way a critter could get into the floorboards.
...............*SCRITCH SCRITCH*......
Finally, FINALLY, I realize it's coming from behind a stereo bookshelf thingla that I'd moved out into the hallway before I went to Chicago.
The music crescendos...
...I move the piece of furniture...
......and there's Wolfgang, saying, "Can I go back to my cage, now, please?"
AUGH!!!
Anyway. He's back; he's eaten some snails; he's right now lying with his belly pressed up against his heat rock, enjoying being warm for the first time in almost a month! :/
Still..what a relief!!
