elionwyrThe cold progresses along its merry way. Voice is sorta normal. Nothing hurts right now. (yay!)
The aftermath of yesterday's layoffs are starting to trickle down...desks being packed up, work being redistributed. Next week is going to be way scary..7 people doing the work of 10 in 3 days rather than 6. *eep*
Last night, I got home only to have Ferret ask me if I wanted to go out to REI - a store which is 10 mins from where I work, which meant basically traveling 1-1/2 hours home only to backtrack. *sigh* I begged for - and got - a pair of duck down slippers that were marked down to $11.90 or so..very cheap, actually. And they FIT! They were an extra small...which is ridiculous. But they're puffy, light green, and have a hardish sole on them..they're remarkably comfy.
I'm now threatening to only wear slippers like this from now on. No more shoe-shopping for me!
(Ferret's response was to scowl and remark to friends that were with us, "Great. So when it's time to take her to the funny farm, now she has the whole outfit.") DOH!!!

Date: 2002-02-25 09:29 am (UTC)Well, I was modeling them for my friend Maura, who is tending to agree with Jason that they are on the ugly side of the fashion fence. *sigh*
Jason (who used to work on a psych ward) piped in, "They look like mental patient slippers!"
I responded, "They didn't give me *anything* like this when I was in there!"
Maura gulped, sputtered (she's never heard me joke about the experience before), then returned with, "You weren't in there that long."
Me: "No. (pause) But they gave me coffee.."
(..and the subject got changed..)
They're still damn cool slippers.
I usually find that once my toes get cold, I simply cannot get warm..but these slippers heat my tootsies up very quickly. Woohoo!!

Date: 2002-02-25 01:52 pm (UTC)I have a friend who has been in psych ward...and its pretty intense...but its there if you need it...and I think its good to joke about things like that...I have come close to having to go there myself a few times...
I think its great how you came back from all of that :)
