Off to Egypt?

elionwyrMy honey told me last night that there's a very good chance he's going to be going to Cairo for a week (more or less) sometime in Dec/Jan.
It's work-related, and it would be a good thing for his job if he went. But it still sorta scares me.
He's a paleontologist, and has been part of a team working in Egypt for over 2 years now (1 season a year that lasts about 1-1/2 months). And he has a wonderful rapport with the Egyptian scientists...so for PR reasons, he should definitely go. He's also going to be helping (hopefully) with the mounting and storing of specimens, since he's been in charge of prepping the fossils, so again, it would be good for him to go.
I don't want to be a silly female about this - I really don't. So I'll keep my fussing to myself. After all, other scientists are over in the Middle East and are doing ok. But...this dig has been high profile, and did get some bad press in Egypt, which is why I want to fuss.
Dang it.
Of course, on the positive side, it looks like Drexel may indeed be hiring him - meaning he'd be helping design a new fossil prep lab, he'd be making more money, and MAYBE I'd have the opportunity to take the risk and paycut to become a full time animal keeper (if he's making a good enough salary). So that's all very cool.
If I really want to make that change, that is.
I mean, I *do*, but..I'm leery of working with the people I'd be working with. I don't doubt my qualifications; I just doubt my tolerance level.
Still..to be a full time keeper..could I really say no??
