venom dreams
Feb. 2nd, 2002 12:38 pmI had another one of these last night. This one was probably inspired by the escape (and subsequent killing) of one of our not-so-dangerous tarantulas a few weeks ago (thanks, Hades..), as well as the fact that I was sleeping in the critter room last night.
I dreamt I walked into said room and Jason's tarantula tanks had all been knocked over. I thought, "Oh shit - some of those are deadly!" (true; one remaining is) and then realized I'd stepped on something squishy in my stocking feet. Looked down. There was a huge birdeating spider-sized tarantula attached to the bottom of my foot.
Now, in the real world, these guys are bad news, but not deadly (unless you're allergic) (or a mouse). In the dream, Jason looked at me, horrified. "Did it bite you?"
"I can't tell yet..but it might have. I need to get to a hospital immediately." (In the real world, antivenoms for the invertebrates easily available to the general public are frequently sparse to non-existant in the US.)
And then the dream took on its usual theme: I'm dying, but no one one will help me get the care I need, and I'm far too afraid of moving to do much for myself.
..And ok, yes. I think I'm beginning to understand the meaning behind these dreams.
Still damned creepy.
