So I finally had my meeting with Boss-Boss and my lead supervisors about the FTP stuff. It was, as I had thought, a short meeting. I did get him to agree to set up some deadlines as to when the overall training will take place, and to help further define what exactly he expected of me.
Then he asked me to go take Bertha and Chris (the supervisors) into another room and explain FTP to them.
The basic process, no problem. But the internal stuff...ah, *that* is what I need to work on. So at least I know what I need to focus on..but I feel badly that I didn't train them as well as I could have.
Of course, then they told me that they really had NO idea about FTP at all. I mean, they can recite what it stands for, but when I asked, "Do you know what that really is?" they couldn't go any further.
Ah well. My job is to make the tech talk into Peoplespeak. So at least the stress of thinking I have to personally train 9 people is off my shoulders. *whew*
But I really don't have the time right now to focus on FTP. I have three friggin' articles to write for Happy Halloween, and I have GOT to get the big one done in the next day or so...and I have no time at work to sneak away and do it, because this is our crunch week and I just lost Friday to an all-day FTP training.
..And sure, I like the pressure, in some sick twisted way, but I have to confess I feel a little overwhelmed right now.
At least I'm not bored!

Date: 2002-01-29 05:26 pm (UTC)The big one is giving me lots of grief. It's basically a fuzzy premise to begin with, and that first sentence is just murder.
The idea is that there's a fellow who wants an article written in praise of the people who have helped him get his haunt up and running. And he - as well as the helpers - all deserve something wonderful - they're just lovely people.
It's fluff, absolutely. But it's feel-good-fluff, and I don't mind writing it because of the people it describes, and because this industry I love so much really needs some feel-good-fluff right now. (9/11 hit the industry very hard - most haunts did very very poorly last October - and there's a lot of negative talk in general.)
I also want to do something special because I know it won't get butchered by my editor.
*grumble*
...I should be writing rather than emailing, as well. Hmpft. I'm such a bad dog.
