Used my fav at a walk down Chinese place in Cambridge (long gone, alas) The "strange flavour" is simply Ginger, mixed in with the usual hot and warm spices :)
If you can find it Well Made, with no cut backs in quality... White meat chicken breast cleaned and shredded chunks, plenty of exotic veggies but including sprouts, good size pieces of green onion, peppers, onions, thin cut bamboo shoots, regular, not thick skinned mutant broccoli, chinese mushrooms (any type) even lotus. (and No Baby Corn, or even carrots or pineapple!!!)
it by *far* beats out most trad chines entries in taste :)
