costume obsession

Though I've not told my beloved yet about my Chicago plans, I'm obsessed with the idea of trying to put together a "vampire pirate" outfit for this costume ball.

I went to the mall - usually slim pickings - and, much to my surprise, found some blousy tops that might just work.

I'm going to try to borrow a black skirt from a friend (all I have is a silk one and I don't think it would look right) and a Ren faire hat from Shyryu (if she's speaking to me)...I think I can make that look pretty piratey.

Though what's in my head has become more goth-pirate than anything else.

Next step: dig out the corset and try the shirts with it. (Please Costume-god, let the sheer black top work...!)

I'm nervous because Castle Blood always wins awards at costume contests, and I really don't want to look bad next to them. :/

It's really weird. I wear costumes a *lot*, due to Grisly and Ren faires, so that doesn't bother me; it's more a matter of being seen by other haunted house people. It makes me nervous.

"How badly does my makeup suck?" is the big one. When you're in a haunted house, you're under funky lights, which is very forgiving. Under normal lighting, it's a whole other ball game.
*sigh*

I'll be practicing a lot during the next month or so...

I wouldn't worry about the lack of deep thoughts. I think the deepest thought I've had in my journal over the past few weeks is "How 'bout dem Eagles?!"
