elionwyr | Birthday!

It was a quiet one, but...ya know, there's something really heart warming about online birthday wishes. All of the love posted to my Facebook and across LJ really meant a lot, and I don't have strong enough words to convey exactly how much that just made my day. :D

(Y'all said some incredibly sweet things that I should probably copy out on notecards and review on a daily basis.)

And I had posted a wish on Facebook - via a nifty little application - to have people donate to RAWA if they felt so moved. I set a goal of $100, and wasn't really expecting to get anywhere near that total, but...we hit it! I am..amazed and elated! I know times are hard, and we're all being flooded with requests for money, varying from the worthy to the not-so-worthy, and...oh, I'm just elated. This was a fabulous gift, and I'm grateful to the people who pitched in...and to the others who weren't snarky about the request! ;)

I should also point out that one person had his employer match his donation, and another here on LJ donated to another cause that spoke a little louder to her. So we really did go above $100. WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!

*happy dance like whoa*

In Other News...my hair is all one colour, for the first time in...a while. I've been trying to let all the red grow out so I could figure out What Comes Next, and with the highlights that were done when I could sorta kinda afford such luxuries, I had mousy dark blonde roots and much lighter ends. It wasn't bad, but it was bothering me quite a lot. The problem is that I like it red. And I like it blonde. And I like it purple. And I want to try being a brunette. And I get ridiculously panicked about any prospective change because I don't trust my hair to not do horrible things to whatever I attempt to do to it.

So I've dithered like mad, and I used a 'temporary' hair mousse that wasn't so temporary but as it faded wasn't so bad...and I finally decided to go from light to dark. The light I chose was supposed to be strawberry blonde and that box looks ZOMG light, but when I look at the new packaging, it looks like the colour I ended up with is actually what I should have expected. Huh. Anyway...yeah, it wasn't so light (though I still panicked as it was drying and

elfowls_nest had to reassure me that the sky wasn't falling and my hair was gonna be just fine.
