My house needs thicker walls.
Sep. 3rd, 2009 11:39 pmAnd soundproof windows.
Neighbors are home early tonight, but it's the same screaming match - screaming kids, screaming parents, barking dogs. I find myself wondering what school's gonna be like for those two little girls.
They had all the dogs outside this morning, and - well, I couldn't resist, because, ya know, PUPPIES! There are four, and they were in a crate while mom-dog (Dolly) lounged on a leash more on my side of the yard than theirs.
(I'm not as surprised as you might think.)
I walked over to say hi - oh, the pups are cute! and 2 have blue eyes! and 1 is a runt! - and Dolly literally hugged me with her front feet. She's not aggressive about me being near the puppies - she wasn't with the last litter - she just wants to get all of the attention for herself, silly girl.
..I hate that I can't just swoop and 'save' the critters and the kids; that I don't have the words to get the parents to see that your home life doesn't have to be filled with screaming and cursing at each other.
And - I've not seen Felix since I left for work. When last I reported, he'd been here for about 7 days straight, with only very brief ventures outside. He's been sleeping with Lurk and me at night, and in my lap (mostly on the computer) for the past 2 evenings. I'm not sure if he's been reclaimed by the neighbors, or if he's just out on kitty patrol..usually if he's out and he hears the chaos next door, he comes mewing at my window to be let in.
:(
(I should add that seeing Lurk and Felix sorta snuggled together warmed my heart a lot this week. Lurk hasn't had that since Hades stopped curling up with him about 2 years ago.)
(Also also? Today is the anniversary of Hades' death. I miss her very much...for new readers, she's the kitty in the foreground of the above icon, and she absolutely earned her name. On a regular basis.)
