Ok, then!

*scampers over to the closet*
*makes room for a nice large velvet pirate jacket*

I'm ready!

*runs over to the window and makes sure a light's on so the delivery person can find her/his way*

*makes a cup of tea*

*sits down and waits for it*

(I really want a pirate frock coat.)

Ah, you don't need to prostitute yourself. LOL. Actually, your best bet for an AFFORDABLE pirate coat is to haunt a thrift shop/vintage clothing shop near a major university in the summer time. Theater departments tend to "clean out their closets" before the fall semester begins, and you can usually find some neat stuff. Of course, there's always the risk that they'll just donate the costumes to community theater, but that's a 50-50 shot.

Also, hit costume stores about a month after Halloween for some good, cheap finds. They'll sell costumes with rips and tears... so if you know how to do a stitch or two, you can mend it, wear it out at night, and no one will know!

Can you tell I'm a costume junkie? Before the kids came, that was my favorite thing to do. Buy and make costumes. Now I just buy and make dinner. :)

April

I've been hitting the thrift stores...and I actually have two theatre ins (one is Mookie, the other is a coworker who was bemoaning the overwhelming task ahead of her in February..she needs to go through their costume department and get rid of stuff..need I say how quickly I volunteered to help?)...

I'm even contemplating trying to sew one myself, but that seems very overwhelming right now...
