work paranoia
Jan. 11th, 2002 01:01 pmWe have two supervisors at work. I report for the one I adore - Bertha; the other, Chris, I find a little...shall we say overbearing for my taste.
I sit just across the hall from Bertha's desk. This morning, I heard Chris go into Bertha's cube and say, "I found something I want to tell Dusti about - she made a mistake and I just want to point it out to her."
At this point, the discussion got much quieter. BUT...I'd heard just enough to be curious and a little paranoid. (With all the family crap, I know I'm off my game these days.)
After some talk of accountability, Chris left Bertha's cube maybe 10 minutes later.
Finally, I couldn't take the suspense, and sent Bertha a quick email asking if I could at least get a hint about what that was all about.
Bertha came over, half-laughing, half-annoyed.
Turns out that Chris had noticed I'd had a hospital buy a lot of pacemakers, and was concerned because I'd not mentioned it to anyone. Bertha's point had been that their job wasn't to tell us *our* job...that she and Chris aren't our bosses, and aren't supposed to be policing the work that way.
Well. This hospital *always* buys that many pacemakers; it's their normal purchasing pattern, which is why I'd not said anything about it. (Sheeeeeeesh...!)
So I was all panicked for nothing. *eyeroll*
...Izzit 4 o'clock yet??
