Crrrrrap part two
Jan. 8th, 2002 02:31 amMy honey is out of the OR. His surgery went well - though it took longer than we'd thought it would.
It was really kinda weird. We left him around 7, had dinner, came home, called him. He still didn't really know anything. He called us around 9:30..still didn't know anything. We went back over around 10PM, to find out he'd been left right in front of the nurse's station for the past 3 hours..?!??!..we were asked to fill out more admissions paperwork, then he went up to the OR, we met the surgeon, and were sent off to the waiting room..which we promptly left in search of coffee.
Well, apparently this waiting room isn't anchored to this reality because we absolutely couldn't find it again. After about 45 mins of wandering (unstopped!) through the hospital, we returned to Emergency, where someone told us he'd been admitted to room 316 and directed us to a waiting room on that floor, promising we'd see him be wheeled by the window when he was done.
After a few MORE hours, my father in law found out that his room had been changed to 412 and we should go to yet another waiting room. As we got ready to do so, the surgeon found us ("I was looking for you up on the fourth floor!" *siiigh*) and told us everything had gone well.
We saw Jason, went to his honest-to-god room (apparently I have us on a good health care plan - he has his own room! considering that the hospital actually closed tonight because they were overcrowded with patients, I think this is amazing), and said goodbye around 2AM.
I'm going to spend as much time as I can with him tomorrow, but I do have to go to work on Wednesday.
I've also called his boss waaay too often tonight, trying to keep him updated as I found things out.
Yup, yup..Neurotic Wife of the Year Award..it's gonna be going to me.

Date: 2002-01-08 08:53 pm (UTC)I replied, "Tell ya what..the next time all the Pooles decide to take turns going in for surgeries, it'll be my turn to stay longest, ok?"
His brother piped in, "Ya know, I have a basketball game in an hour. I could be the next hospitalized Poole, if you'd like."
Me: "Nope..gotta wait until February. One a month is the rule."
(With any luck, my beloved will be home tomorrow night...here's hoping..I know I should go to sleep, but time still doesn't feel real..*sigh*)
