Happy New Year's...sorta...
Dec. 31st, 2001 05:43 pmSo usually for New Year's, I go over to my boss's house for a haunted new year's eve party. It's tradition; I love it; and I get to see people I really love a lot.
This year, I agreed that we (my beloved and I) would go elsewhere.
But..the car broke down today. Which, all things considered, shouldn't surprise me..it was December's last chance to kick us in the butt.
We've had about 6 different friends cancel plans with us for New Year's as well..which isn't totally bad, because honestly, I didn't really want to play hostess (they would have all had to stay here tonight)...but it's still kinda funky.
So I was all set to be a little grumpy about it.
Then a very dear friend called and asked if I had any plans...and would I mind if she came over. Basically she changed her mind about her plans at the last minute, but doesn't want to be alone.
And suddenly I feel so much better about my own plans getting changed over and over for tonight. I get to be here for her! And that means a lot to me. So I get to spend New Year's with two people I love very much.
May your own holiday be ending as nicely. :)
