"Attraction & Harmony"

Venus has a great deal to do with female sexuality and sensuality generally. A positive Venus shows as the social graces and charm. It can on the other hand represent indulgence, superficiality, and wanton pleasure-seeking all of which could include simply being anti-social.

Venus was in Aries on the day you were born.

You love as a child loves, seeing human relationships as being natural and uncomplicated - at least, at first. You are generous, guileless and direct - and expect others to be the same. You’re crestfallen when you find that they’re not, but not as a rule heart-broken. You get back up again as quickly as you fell in love in the first place. This impetuosity of yours certainly possesses a quality that is immediately attractive to others.

It also makes you very impatient to give, gain or receive love. So much so that you are inclined to mistake lust for love and it takes a while before you’re able to spot the difference. There is something impish and naughty about you that can cause others to do childlike things they wouldn't do normally. This has its good and bad sides in that you are able to introduce a refreshingly primitive glee into your social or romantic spheres, but you can lead others on and then be gone. Such a ‘love them and leave them’ style can cut both ways you will find.

Let me tell ya a story, LiveJournal.

When I was a child, my mother a magical book collection. Filling a wall, nearly floor to ceiling, her collection consisted mostly of science fiction - though vampires, Sherlock Holmes, and erotica also made an appearance.

At home, I wasn't allowed to buy books. I had - goodness, maybe 30 or 40 books? - and they were treasure to me. My mother gave me permission to read and/or borrow whatever struck my interest from her shelves, and I gleefully did so without much input from anyone.

I read The Story of O at much too young an age - I was a teenager, but I didn't understand the book, and I'm pretty sure I didn't take that one back to my father's house with me.

The book that got me into trouble? A collection of Anne McCaffrey stories - I want to say it was Get off the Unicorn but the cover I remember showed a scantily clad female, and the covers on Amazon don't match my memory. Regardless, my father saw the cover art and took the book from me, saying it was inappropriate.

This simply means I went and got the book when he wasn't around, read it, and returned it to my mom with no reaction from my mostly-uninvolved father. (Yes, I was sometimes a sneaky child...but only when it involved something unfair regarding my mother. Like intercepted letters to me being opened and hidden in his sock drawer. But I digress.)

So, LiveJournal, my gut reaction is HELL NO don't censor or ban books! If if IF there is merit or need, for the love of all that's holy do your research and look past the cover art. I think it's dangerous to make blanket rules for everyone because we are each of us unique and complicated critters. The Shining damaged my brain for many years. I am the exception in my circle of friends. I would not say the movie should be banned because it convinced me that my father was going to kill me with an axe.

I would say, instead, that there should be discussion if there is concern regarding what your teen is reading, or watching, or checking out online. I know, I know...discussion is scary. Much easier to slash and burn than to talk and think, and yet I highly recommend this rather radical gameplan.

Lurk continues to be lovestruck in a way I've never seen, following [livejournal.com profile] elfowls_nest's kitty around, chittering and chirping at her.

She is far from amused.

This morning at some ungodly hour I heard him trotting around and her hissing, so I corralled him into my bedroom and closed the door...whereupon I was treated for the next short bit of eternity by the sound of his scampering clicking claws against the bare tiled floor as he paced back and forth trying to get back out of the room.

AUGH!

When I realized [livejournal.com profile] elfowls_nest was definitely awake, I gave up and opened the door, and was not again treated to the sound of Caitlin's hissings, so I suppose he left her alone.

Today I put him in my room and brought Caitlin downstairs so she could have the house to herself for a bit. She nosed around and after a bit wandered back upstairs, but still looked pretty alert and curious rather than sleepy. A while ago, she came back downstairs without me noticing, until..

"HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SPIT SPIT HISSSS!"

"LURK! Dang it, leave her alone!"

I hurried into the dining room and couldn't help but laugh.

Caitlin was indeed hissing...at a wooden table cut into the shape of a black cat with its tail up in the air.

*facepalm*

So..um...yeah, I suppose Lurk shouldn't be taking the lack of love personally, huh?

*laugh*
